The original rulers of "Anatolia" were the Mongols who collected heavy but cruel taxes from the Seljuks.

One of the sons of Seljuk Sultan Ghias-ud-Din, Rukn-ud-Din Klich-Arsalan IV, had fallen to his knees before the Mongol rule, while his other brother, Izz al-Din Kakaus II, fled to Nakia, but was imprisoned by the Byzantine government instead of being granted asylum. He decided to hand it over to the Mongols. This was a severe test of the life of the Seljuk chief, Ertugrul Ghazi.

He passed this test because of his political insight, understanding and visionary military leadership skills. He saved "Izz al-Din Kakaus" from the Mongols and took refuge with "Barkekhan". The "white beard" of the Turkish secret service of that period was aided by "Ertugrul Ghazi".

In his capacity as Seljuk chieftain, Ertuرrul Ghazi organized the Turkish tribes throughout the whole of Italy to resist the Mongols and formed an alliance with the Muslim Mongol ruler Burke Khan and the Mamluk state of Egypt. Subsequent events proved that The alliance succeeded in dispersing the Mongol power. The Islamic world was going through a darkest period when "Ertugrul Ghazi" was organizing resistance against the Mongols in Anatolia.

In 1258, Hulagu Khan, as the governor of Mango Khan, invaded Baghdad, overthrew the Abbasid Caliphate and destroyed the city of Baghdad. Along with Baghdad, Mosul, Aleppo and Damascus were also conquered by Hulagu Khan. With the exception of Damascus (where the ruler had a treaty with Hulagu Khan), most Iraqi and Syrian cities were targeted, such as Baghdad.

Thus the Tatar invasion spread from Central Asia to Iran, Afghanistan, China, Russia and most of India, Eastern Europe, Syria, Palestine and Iraq, reaching the gates of Egypt.

In case of defeat of Egypt, the next target of the Mongols would be the Holy Hijaz ie Mecca and Medina. It was as if the Egyptian government was the last hope of the Muslim world. Thus, in 1260, in the historic arena of "Ain Goliath", 20,000 Egyptian troops of the Mamluk Sultan "Saifuddin Qatz" of Egypt, under the leadership of Rukn-ud-Din Bibers, competed against Hulagu Khan's 300,000 troops.

These handfuls of people could not stop the Mongol locust heart in any way. Then the miracle of God happened and the fourth Khaqan of Karakoram "Mango Khan" died. And Hulagu Khan had to go to Karakoram to attend this last rite. So before leaving, he wrote a threatening letter to the Mamluk Sultan of Egypt and left with an army of 20,000, led by the Mongol general Katbagha Khan.

Prior to his departure, Hulagu Khan had ordered not to invade Egypt until he returned, but since the Mamluk Sultan had the ambassador carrying Hulagu Khan's threatening letter killed, the war became certain. Eventually, seeing the small number of Mongol armies, the Egyptian army came up against the Mongols and in the month of Ramadan, according to 1260, the Mongol army was defeated. And so the Islamic world escaped a catastrophe.

As a result, one by one the Muslim occupiers started gaining independence by revolting against the Mongols.

Then, in September 1262, Hulagu again attempted to invade Syria and Egypt, but Genghis Khan's grandson and Hulagu Khan's own cousin, Barke Khan, who had converted to Islam, and his rule from the Caucasus mountains to Bulgaria. Had established

"Barke Khan" played a key role in thwarting Hulagu Khan's campaign, Hulagu Khan's army was destroyed and one of his sons was killed, and the defeated Hulagu Khan took refuge on an island in the Azerbaijani Sea. But after successive defeats to the Mamluks and Barke Khan, the Mongols never regained control. A few years later, in 1265, the savage Hulagu Khan died an accidental but tragic death.
